Michael Feldman

Host & "Kosher Beefcake"

I started life as a zygote and before long found myself a blastula. Over the years I've gained and lost gills and a vestigial tail, discovered uses for my opposable thumbs and forefingers, and married twice. I was the youngest of four sons born to David A. and Geraldine G. Feldman (for the record, the others-in descending order are Clayton, Howard and Arthur) all of whom think they're funny and three of whom acquired professions (medicine, law and medicine) to fall back on.

Sara Nics

Sara Nics

Announcer

Sara’s done a world of weird and wonderful jobs... helping salmon reproduce in the arctic, reporting on lobsters and logging in Maine, roasting coffee in Toronto, writing about the East Coast arts scene, teaching yoga in Nairobi, announcing India’s news from a desk in a Dutch forest, choreographing surrealist children's theater for elderly listeners, roaming a national park in Nova Scotia, covering turmoil in East Africa, taking photos of flowers in the Netherlands, and getting paid to explore her interests for To the Best of Our Knowledge.

John Thulin

Music Coordinator

Since 1985, Thulin has been the musical coordinator and pianist for Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know? In this capacity, he has shared the stage with such jazz and blues greats as Von Freeman, Claude Williams, Ernestine Anderson, Howard Levy, Barbara Carr, The Memphis Horns, Dave Stryker, and many more. The show has showcased Thulin's unique combination of blues, bebop, and pianistic, hard- swinging grooves. John performs many of his own compositions on the show, as well as at live performances and on recordings.

Jeff Hamann

Bassist

Jeff, a native of the Milwaukee area, has a long list of professional collaborations that include Eric Alexander Berkley Fudge, Penny Goodwin, Steve Allen, Randy Sabien and Kelly DeHaven. In addition to recording, Hamann has several years of experience as an instructor and clinician. In addition to his work on Whad'Ya Know? and other musical endeavors, Hamann teaches at his alma mater, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Recent tours include Jazz Yatra in Bombay, India, International Floating Jazz Festival on the S.S.

Clyde Stubblefield

Clyde Stubblefield

The Funky Drummer

"The Funky Drummer" Clyde Stubblefield joined the gang in 1984 as part of the Whad'Ya Know? trio. Clyde plays with John and Jeff on Whad'Ya Know? road shows, and for occassional gigs in the Madison area.

Adam Friedrich

Adam Friedrich

Producer

Adam Friedrich has spent over 15 years on the other side of the glass producing shows for public radio.  When the “on-air” lights shut off and he’s finally let out of the production booth, Adam enjoys spending time at home with his wife Krista and their cat Bucky (named for his “Get Fuzzy” antics, not the UW mascot) and dog, Louie.  He’s also been known to drop the occasional fishing line into any lake (frozen or not) that’ll have him and has a passion for long walks in the woods…generally looking for his wayward tee shot.

Chris Majchrzak

Chris Majchrzak

Show Manager

Chris’ past is stacked with multiplexes and movie theaters from Milwaukee to Madison.  From those movie theaters, a comic shop and a couple of beer fests, you can glimpse the origin story of the character behind the scenes at the WYK? live shows.  While seemingly mild mannered, he prefers all things spooky or geek. When not planning world domination via live events, he finds life significantly more enjoyable on a bike and is preternaturally drawn to a good cup of coffee.

Tom Blain

Tom Blain

Technical Director

Tom worked for Whad'Ya Know?. Then, he quit Whad'Ya Know? and moved to Scotland, which seemed like a good idea at the time. After Scotland he moved to Norway, which was an even better idea. But, the siren song of Wisconsin is strong, and Tom moved back rejoining WYK? as Tech Director. When he's not getting Michael on the air he's working at his audio mastering business Ultimate Audio.

Aubrey Ralph

Aubrey Ralph

Production Engineer

Aubrey 'Obka' Ralph is an artist & live sound engineer in Madison. He is a very odd combination of things. He is also about halfway off his rocker. About 5 years ago he went for a drive and his car broke down about 37 miles outside the state of his mind. He puts the Mad in Scientist. He does make very neat music and is a very solid engineer.“fkv;yellingfvbn;jk;x atnmmicev,m gtcatsharenmnice” says Obka. During moments of clarity Aubrey is a Production Engineer on WYK?.

Lyle Anderson

Lyle Anderson

On Air Producer

I have been with Whad'Ya Know? since the very first show, shortly after the dawn of radio. My main job is to answer the phone for all those answers to the quiz question or the Hotline, find somebody to talk with from the Town of the Week, etc. On the road I'm also the driver to the stars--while Mike criticizes.

Diana Cook

Diana Cook

For the past several years, Diana Cook has painstakingly researched the questions, though not the answers, for the quiz, as well as burning issues and local legends for the out-of-town shows. She's the author of the painstakingly researched Wisconsin Capitol: Fascinating Facts.

Kelley Osborne

Kelley Osborne

A 1995 graduate of Ripon College (which is more than Harrison Ford can say), Kelley has parlayed her natural talent for photocopying into the position of researcher for Whad'Ya Know? . Kelley packed up her research skills and moved to Milwaukee, where they have the Internet, so Kelley can keep up with the Whad'Ya Know? Online Quiz questions.
