We Like It Live
Whad'Ya Know? fans share their thoughts on live radio

I listen to Michael Feldman’s Whadyaknow almost ever Saturday, and it is by far one of my favorite public radio shows. I think that much of its appeal as well as its humor is both because of Michael Feldman and because it is LIVE. Please don’t make it a recorded program; keep
it LIVE. Thank you.

From Lori

Michael Feldman's show should remain a live broadcast. The live format allows his wit to shine. Please don't contribute to the, shall we say, death of live radio.

From Mary

Do not change the format to a taped show. We want the show to remain a live show which allows the show to be spontaneous and is the primary reason we listen to it.

From Everett

As long time fans of Michael Feldman's What'Ya Know? program we ask you to please keep the show a true live broadcast. One of the great pleasures in listening to What'Ya Know? is the excitement of hearing a warts and all live production. This is one of the key factors in helping to make this such a delightful and unique radio experience.

From Jack and Rita

Please, oh Please do not go to a taped format. The live performance and the spontanetity it produces is priceless. Please add my name to those who want you LIVE.

From Thieldel

Do NOT tape this show. Live Radio is real radio. Keep doing it right.
Sheesh... man... what are they thinking?!?!?

From Jack

There is a rumor that Whadda You Know is planning to go to a tape format- It's the live quality of the show that keeps it interesting- And Michael is excellent, off the cuff. Please do not change the format.

From Raymond

I like your show, What dya Know. I don't write often enough. I'm legally blind. I've probably listened to it my whole life. I can remember, perhaps 20 years ago first hearing it. Hearing jokes about his new born baby. Then later jokes as she aged.

I lived in Northern Illinois as a boy. I had some friends from Madison. I still look back on them with "pleasant" memories. I honestly can't use that word for very many things or people. They were good people. Thank you.

I wouldn't say anything bad about .. other programs, but... ... I wonder.. I'm stuck hearing NPR all day long, every day ... And i must admit.. I regret that one show, out of Minnesota is played .. over and over. I really like Feldman's show. And the other one.. is so .. 1950s or something. I wish SO much i'd hear Feldman's show ad nauseum, and less of the other.

Being creative is a delicate thing. I'm paid for my creativity. You can't always focus in on a detail that explains it. I was hearing that you're thinking of changing Feldman's show, from live to recorded. I'm sure there are good reasons, but .. I've written humor.. Honestly, i can write INCREDIBLE humor.. And honest.. I understand why he prefers "live." There really is something that just "clicks" when you're in a certain live mode. That doesn't come when you have a more .. "planned" setting. Maybe i'm using the wrong words, but honestly, i wish you could defer to keeping the show as it is. It really works. I really love it. BEST to you!

You have our support in the effort to have Whad'Ya Know remain a LIVE show. The fact that it's live is a great part of the show's charm! And what is this nonsense that the audience doesn’t know the difference? We know that Car Talk and Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me are canned shows. We’d rather they go live. Like Whad'Ya Know, The Diane Rehm Show, and Prairie Home Companion!!!

From Chris and Pam

Just thought you'd like to hear from one of Feldman's fans of 10 plus years now. Please keep"Waddaya Know?" live. While it is true that you might get a more professional sounding product by taping and producing the show, my fear is that you will succumbto the inevitable desire to keep polishing and tweaking until the essence of the show is completely unrecognizable. It is precisely this slick and overproduced quality that makes shows like Wait,Wait... and Car Talk almost unlistenable. I believe that the live format of Micheal's show is probably it's greatest asset and is what truly sets it apart from all the others.
