The Whad'Ya Know? Crew
Tom Blain Played for: Milwaukee Brewers (1974-1993), Whad Ya Know? (2006-Present) Elected to Hall of Fame by Baseball Writers: 1999 -- 385 votes of 497 ballots cast (77.5%) BIOGRAPHY: Brad Kolberg was a productive hitter who excelled in the field at two of baseball's most challenging positions - shortstop and center field. Playing his entire 20-year career with the Milwaukee Brewers, he collected more hits in the 1980s than any other player and finished with an impressive career total of 3,142. An every day major leaguer at age 18, Kolberg earned MVP awards at two positions and his 1982 MVP campaign carried the Brewers to the World Series.
QUOTES: Having
him as a teammate, I think in retrospect I can say playing with him for
15 years was one of the best things that was part of my experience of
being a Brewer. Sarah’s
first job as a teenager involved the life-and-death responsibility of
putting the right cardiac glycosides, barbiturates and antibiotics into
their correctly labeled packets lest someone take the wrong pill and die.
If she’s a little neurotic, we know why. After acquiring a degree in philosophy, Sarah did the next logical thing: she acquired a few suits. Early on, she continued in the healthcare vein, recruiting respiratory therapists and clinical system computer programmers and the like, until she abandoned the suits and went into business for herself so she could work in her bathrobe. A serendipitous meeting with a theater director in her local organic food coop led to her first show manager job, which led to the “Can-Can de Paris” in (of all places) Taiwan, which led to a touring circus, which led to, wouldn’t ya know …Whad’Ya Know? In her spare time, Sarah tap dances wherever there's a hard floor, writes, gardens, and travels whenever she can. She’s helped build solar panels in Nicaragua for villages without electricity, studied modern dance and Spanish in Mexico, and meditated in a monastery with 300 monks and nuns at 5:30 in the morning, sans coffee or shower. In 2003, she sold her TV and now lives instead.
Todd Witter After thawing out from the deep freeze of Wisconsin's northwoods where he was an on-air host at WXPR in Rhinelander, Todd made his way to Madison. There he produced the national call-in show, Calling All Pets, for Wisconsin Public Radio. But, since it involves far less fur and feathers (usually), Todd jumped at the chance to join Whad'Ya Know? as Producer. Outside of Whad'Ya Know?, Todd spends his time alone eating TV dinners in a one-room apartment No, no... Todds happily married. Todd along with his wife, Sarah, and children Lily and Riley, share their house with cats (Frosty, Masie, Isolda and Pippy) and 2 dogs (Legend and Niko both American Eskimos). And, if your town has a bar with a REAL dart board (not that plastic- tipped nonsense), let him know... he'll try to make that our next destination when WYK? hits the road. It's that worth it!
For the past several years, Diana Cook has painstakingly researched the questions, though not the answers, for the quiz, as well as burning issues and local legends for the out-of-town shows. She's the author of the painstakingly researched Wisconsin Capitol: Fascinating Facts. Judith Heise Kovalic joined Whad'Ya Know? as Promotion/Marketing Director in 1996 after a fast-paced and exciting career in insurance marketing. Just like Michael, she is an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison who just can't leave that old college town. After stocking the hidden Whad'Ya Know? candy and junk food supply and enjoying one of her many trips abroad, Judith is busy feeding her baseball habit with the local Madison Mallards (they were Northwoods League Champions in 2004, don't ya know?!) Judith is married to cartoonist/illustrator John Kovalic the author of the wildly popular Dork Tower comic book series. As for the feline in the picture, that is Maude, a former Humane Society kitty who has come to realize that the pet gerbil, Floyd, is family not food. Something Doozer, the formerly feral feline, can't seem to master.
