Town of the Week

Take a visit to Narragansett, Rhode Island; just Listen in listen in.

Narragansett, Rhode Island
October 31, 1998

Narragansett, RI There's a salty tang in the breeze, as the sun shimmers on the waves at Narragansett pier. Walk the seawall along ocean drive and watch the surf crash and splash at your feet. It's not hard to see why Narragansett pier and its welcoming towers were so highly regarded by Rhode Island society during the gay 1890's.

The pier, casino and luxury hotels provided a resort background second to none. The towers still offer some of the best banquet facilities in the state. Narragansett is an ocean community, with a popular fishing village named Galilee, which attracts fishermen from all over the country to fish various contests.

This is also the home of the bay campus of the University of Rhode Island, with its world renowned graduate school of oceanography. It's a town with an everchanging panorama, which you can experience on a cruise or while sportfishing. It's also the home of the high school mariners, and our town of the week, Narragansett, Rhode Island.
