Thanks for the Memos

Some time ago, about 1985, someone sent a memo from a hospital pathology unit, which described the conversion of the men's toilet into a doctor's office and the domino effect it had on the elevator's transformation into the autopsy dressing room. Needless to say, I was hooked: "Thanks for the Memos" was born.

Since that fateful moment I have received (which is not to say kept, as it quickly begins to get ridiculous) some six or seven thousand memos. This section is dedicated to the pursuit of memos. Browse our offerings and be sure to send us your own additions.

First, hundreds of Canadians trapped while fishing on ice floes. Emergency crews evacuated the anglers who wanted to go, but left those will to stay on the ice. Hey, if the shanty is nice, they might as well fish....

Then, a Memo: Department Of Transportation Memo on Shy Bladder. When it's time for routine alcohol and drug testing, you better be able to "go" when they tell you. Can't go? Then it's 24 ounces of water and a 2-hour wait. Still can't go? Maybe it's time for psychological testing, instead...
