Thanks for the Memos

Stack of Memos Some time ago, about 1985, someone sent a memo from a hospital pathology unit, which described the conversion of the men's toilet into a doctor's office and the domino effect it had on the elevator's transformation into the autopsy dressing room. Needless to say, I was hooked: "Thanks for the Memos" was born.

Since that fateful moment I have received (which is not to say kept, as it quickly begins to get ridiculous) some six or seven thousand memos. This section is dedicated to the pursuit of memos. Browse our offerings and be sure to send us your own additions.

The Lobster Zone
March 25, 2000

It's not really a memo, but an advertisement for an interesting product for restaurant and seafood vendors--it's the Lobster Zone Lobster Crane! No more pointing and picking when you get a lobster out of the tank. Put your coins in the "game," line up the crane, and let it snatch one out of the water. Oooops, missed this time! Well, try again. It's just like the arcade game that snatches a stuffed animal out of the pile. So head to the bowling alley, you could catch a live lobster instead!

Hear Listen in the memo from this week's show.
