Michael Interviews...

Mike at his Desk David Slotkoff -- Winner of the Wisconsin Song Contest
June 20, 1998

"Some of the greatest songs have come from New York, so why not a song about Wisconsin?" questioned quiz-master Michael as he announced the winner of the Wisconsin Song Contest.

David Slotkoff took the honors with his work "Wuhdyuh Know About Wisconsin?" an acapella ballad that covers some of Wisconsin's most cherished treasures: peas, cheese and beer. Slotkoff penned his ode after reading a fall 1997 pamphlet from Wisconsin's tourism department and a couple of travel books. But, Slotkoff is no foreigner to the Badger State, he spent two days in Wisconsin in 1967.

Listen in Listen in to the winning song and get ready for the fully orchestrated performance on the July 4, 1998 show from Washington, DC.
