Michael interviews author Margo Kaufman (who regrettably passed away earlier in 2000) about her then-published book This Damn House: My Subcontract with America.

After a series of failed book proposals, Margo decided to remodel the house and document it in a book. The publisher agreed and Margo called the contractor. The walls started to come down and Margo found that the remodelers weren't the most enlightened, the chimney sweeps lived in a parallel universe, and the painters seemed to disappear frequently, but they had the best food.
